Bugatti Chiron Sport ‘Les Légendes du Ciel’ Special Edition revealed
The Bugatti Chiron Sport ‘Les Légendes du Ciel’ is a tribute to the legendary aviators who also raced Bugattis.
The French aviator Roland Garros privately drove a Bugatti Type 18. He was fascinated by the fast, agile and lightweight cars which Ettore Bugatti produced. He admired his talent so much that he called him the “incomparable artist who alone knows, how to give life to steel.”
Garros is just one legend among a long list of successful Bugatti racing drivers, which includes Albert Divo, Robert Benoist and Bartolomeo ‘Meo’ Costantini. In honor of these racing greats, Bugatti is building 20 examples of the Chiron Sport Les Légendes du Ciel.
The Chiron Sport Les Légendes du Ciel is finished in a matte grey shade called Gris Serpent. The color was inspired by the aircrafts from the 1920s. A gloss white stripe runs along the centre of the car extending from the front, all the way to the rear spoiler. The “Les Légendes du Ciel“ logo can be found on the front wings and the “Le Bleu-Blanc-Rouge” tricolor can be seen on the front area of the side sills made of exposed black carbon fiber.
The horseshoe shaped radiator grille also has a black gloss finish. The radiator grille mesh is made of laser-cut and deep-drawn aluminum. It has brushed aluminium door sills and the special edition logo on the centre console. The W16 engine cover is made of black exposed carbon fibre. Black exposed carbon fibre and a black-coated exhaust trim cover made of 3D printed, high-temperature-resistant Inconel dominate the rear.
The interior of the car is wrapped in “Gaucho” leather. On the door panels there is a hand-sketched racing scene between the Nieuport 17 aircraft and a Bugatti Type 13. Comfort seats and the glass roof “Sky View” are available as options.
The Chiron Sport Les Légendes du Ciel is powered by the 8.0-liter W16 engine that puts out 1500 hp and 1180 lb-ft of torque. The top speed of the car is limited to 261 mph.
This limited edition Chiron Sport will go into production by the end of this year. Prices start at €2.88 million.
