Drag Race: Finally, a Ferrari that can beat the McLaren 720S
The Ferrari F8 Tributo has proved that it can just about beat the McLaren 720S to the quarter mile.
It’s always great to watch two rivals fight it out on the drag strip. This time, the F8 Tributo lines up alongside the 720S. As you know, the latter is pretty capable of beating some of the fastest supercars out there. But, has Ferrari caught up with its rival from Woking?
Well, as you can see, the F8 Tributo had better traction off the line. The 720S struggled to put the power down initially and lost every race by a small margin. Although, it seems the McLaren would have eventually caught up and passed the Ferrari.
Here’s how the F8 Tributo compares with the McLaren 720S on paper.
The F8 is powered by a 3.9-liter, twin-turbo V8, while the McLaren uses a 4.0-liter, twin-turbo V8. Both engines produce about the same amount of horsepower and torque. That’s 710 horsepower and 568 pound-feet. But, the 720S has a better power-to-weight ratio of 553 hp/tonne as opposed to the 534 hp/tonne of the Ferrari.
