Tesla Roadster will be able to Hover Over the Ground!

Ever since the next generation Tesla Roadster was announced, it has been a source of a lot of buzz. That buzz is mostly in part due to the crazy claims made about the car and its performance by Elon Musk. However, the CEO’s latest claim that the Roadster will be able to hover over the ground tops them all.

When the first Roadster prototype was unveiled in December, 2017, Musk presented an insane spec sheet and ridiculous performance numbers for the car – 0-60 mph in 1.9 seconds, 250 mph+ top speed and 620 miles of range. Later, he said that those numbers were part of the “base spec” and other versions would be even more insane. He went on to announce a “SpaceX package” for the car that would use cold air thrusters to make it go even faster.

Now in response to a GIF posted by a Twitter user of a flying car hovering over the ground, Musk said, “the new Roadster will actually do something like this”:

Most people obviously took it for a joke, but Musk doesn’t like to play when it comes to announcements related to new Tesla features that first seemed crazy, but later made it to the cars. Youtuber and Tesla owner MKBHD clearly understands that and asked Musk to clarify. Here’s his reply:

The latest claim has only increased our anticipation for the car and we’d love to see how if all those crazy features will actually make it production. The Roadster 2.0 is slated to start production sometime next year but we wouldn’t wager on the date as Tesla is known for delays.
