Lamborghini has released a teaser video of the Aventador SVJ’s Nurburgring lap. They say, “something special happened”. We’re guessing, a new lap record.

The Porsche 911 GT2 RS became the “king of the ring” in September last year. It lapped the Nurburgring in 6 min 47.3 sec, improving on the time set by the Lamborghini Huracan Performante. Now, according to Instagram user 43lambo, a Performante owner himself, Lamborghini may have got the Nurburgring crown back with the Aventador SVJ. The man claims that the SVJ has shaved off 2 seconds from the record, which means its lap time stands at around 6 min 45 sec.
While it is still not confirmed, it would be reasonable to expect Lamborghini to make a record attempt. In 2015, the Aventador SV had clocked a sub-seven minute lap time. With more power and improved aerodynamics on the SVJ, a new lap record sounds achievable. Then, there are the bragging rights that come with a Nurburgring lap record, which Lamborghini wouldn’t want to miss.
The Lamborghini Aventador SVJ has been filmed numerous times at the Nurburgring in the recent months. This, indicates that the company might be preparing for record attempt all this while.
Whatever the case is, we will know for sure next month when Lamborghini unveils the SVJ at the Pebble Beach Concours on August 26.
