Here’s our first look at the Mercedes-AMG GT4 Racer

Mercedes-AMG will soon offer a GT4-spec race car for private teams. Built on a similar philosophy as the Cayman GT4 Clubsport and upcoming BMW M4 GT4, the Mercedes-AMG GT4 will come from the factory as a track-ready machine.

Mercedes-AMG has revealed the first digital sketches of the upcoming Mercedes-AMG GT4 racer on their Instagram. We looked closely at the images and we can say that the AMG GT4 looks very much like the Mercedes-AMG GT R road car. That said, there are a few minor differences that should make a huge difference on the racetrack.

The Mercedes-AMG GT4 gets a slightly revised front-end. The canards on the front bumper are clearly visible in the sketches. These were previously spotted on a prototype caught lapping the Nurburgring. It also features a much larger front splitter and an enormous rear spoiler.  Being a race car, it comes fitted with a roll cage and fuel and oil fillers on the quarter glass. An on-board pneumatic jacking system will be a part of the package as well.

As far as the engine concerned, Mercedes-AMG hasn’t revealed any details yet. That said, it will be based on the 4.0-liter V8 bi-turbo engine from the road car.
