2026 Porsche 911 GT2 RS begins testing at the Nurburgring
Porsche unveiled the first of its updated 911 sports cars earlier this week, starting with the entry-level Carrera and Carrera GTS models. On the other end of the performance spectrum, Porsche’s GT division is working on its flagship, the 911 GT2 RS.
The new Porsche 911 GT2 RS is expected to debut as a MY2026 car. The first prototype was recently spotted at the Nurburgring, which indicates that the development is in full swing. The video shared by CarSpyMedia reveals a test mule disguised as a 992 GT3 RS.
As they say, looks can be deceiving. Underneath the racecar-inspired bodywork with its massive intakes, louvres and an active rear spoiler, lies a different engine. Turn up the volume, and you will realize that it’s turbocharged.
Reports suggest the upcoming Porsche 911 GT2 RS will feature hybrid tech developed for the Le Mans-winning 919 Hybrid. It is said to use a mild-hybrid system with an electric motor, boosting the performance of the twin-turbo flat-six engine to more than 700 hp.
