2023 Porsche 911 GT3 RS sets new Nurburgring benchmark time
Porsche has been tweaking and improving the 911 ever since it first came out. The 2023 Porsche 911 GT3 RS is its most developed version yet. Therefore, it’s no surprise that it just blitzes the Nurburgring lap time set by the standard GT3.
The new 911 GT3 RS lapped the 20.8 km Nurburgring Nordschleife in 6 min 49.328 sec with Jörg Bergmeister at the wheel. That’s 10.6 seconds quicker than the current GT3.
For the first time, the new GT3 RS feature active aero, which includes an adjustable rear wing and winglets in the front bumper. You can see them in operation in the onboard video published on Nurburgring’s official Youtube channel.
At the heart of the new 911 GT3 RS is a 4.0-liter, naturally aspirated flat-6 engine that makes 525 hp. The engine is mated to a 7-speed PDK, enabling the car to reach 0-60 mph in 3.2 seconds. Its top speed is 184 mph.
Porsche has also tweaked the suspension of the GT3 RS. The double-wishbone front axle is designed with teardrop-shaped profiles. These aerodynamically efficient links increase downforce on the front axle by around 40 kg. It also gets rear-axle steering.
