2022 Porsche Cayman GT4 RS debuts with a 911 GT3 engine

Earlier today, Porsche took the wraps off the 2022 Cayman GT4 RS as expected. It’s the hottest 718 Cayman you can buy, and it packs quite a punch.

The Cayman GT4 RS is essentially a 2-door sports car with a 911 GT3 engine mounted in the middle. The 4.0-liter flat-six motor pumps out 493 hp and 331 lb-ft of torque. It is hooked up to a 7-speed PDK. And before you ask – no, there isn’t a manual transmission option.

Porsche claims that the dual-clutch automatic has been tuned specifically for the Cayman GT4 RS. The shorter gear ratios improve acceleration. 0-60 mph comes up in 3.2 seconds and it will hit a top speed of 196 mph.

When it comes to chassis and aerodynamics, the GT4 RS is a step up from the GT4. The car sits lower to the ground and is equipped with Bilstein dampers with stiffer springs and anti-roll bars. 20-inch centre lock wheels come as standard.

The GT4 RS features a more aggressive aero package with a new front spoiler, diffuser and NACA ducts on the bonnet. It also gets a motorsport-derived top-mount rear wing. Porsche claims that all these modifications have increased the downforce by 25% over the regular GT4.

The Cayman GT4 RS will reach US shores early next year at a price tag of $141,700.
