2020 Porsche 718 Boxster Spyder and 718 Cayman GT4 Debut!

The 2020 Porsche 718 Boxster Spyder and 718 Cayman GT4 come with an all-new 4.0-liter, 6-cylinder engine which belts out 414 hp of power and 310 lb-ft of torque.

The teaser had dropped last week and full reveal has happened now. This is the new couple that you should hang out with. Pick either the 2020 Porsche 718 Boxster Spyder or the 718 Cayman GT4 and you can’t go wrong. Both were designed, engineered and built to be the finest incarnation of the 718 range and we must say, they certainly pack the good stuff to be seated at the prime spot.

Kicking off the party is a makeover – a subtle one which has both visual and aerodynamic functions. The GT4 Clubsport-inspired aero elements of the 718 Cayman GT4 – that massive fixed rear wing, diffuser along with the front splitter and air curtains not only make the look fabulous. These things lend the car with 50% more downforce.

Coming to the 718 Boxster Spyder, a functional diffuser at the rear improves downforce and the latter is aided by an automatic rear spoiler which deploys at 75 mph. The double bubble design rear lid with the floating brake light adds to the stunning looks of the Spyder. We like this one more than the GT4, to be honest.

Mated to a 6-speed manual transmission, the boxer unit can propel the 718 Cayman GT4 and the 718 Boxster Spyder to 62 mph in 4.4 seconds. Top speeds vary as expected, with the GT4 being slightly faster at 189 mph and the Spyder at 187 mph. That kind of speed is enough for the coupe to put in a 10 second quicker lap time at the Nurburgring compared to its predecessor.

An all-new 4.0-liter, 6-cylinder engine producing 414 hp of power and 310 lb-ft of torque can be found in the middle of both. An Adaptive Cylinder Control system has been integrated which aids in improving fuel efficiency by interrupting fuel injection to one of the two cylinder banks.

The power couple will arrive in the US in spring and will come with price tags of $96,300 for the Spyder and $99,200 for the GT4, excluding $1,250 for delivery, processing and handling fee.
