2020 Chevrolet Corvette C8 Stingray Convertible gets October Launch Date
Time to drop the top! The 2020 Chevrolet Corvette C8 Stingray Convertible is coming in October.
A few days ago, Corvette Forum came across a leaked GM booklet of the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette C8 Stingray which brought to light the weight of the Convertible model. What the leaked news didn’t state was the launch date. But now there’s the official word from Chevrolet itself which places the launch date in October this year.
Corvette Assembly Plant Manager Kai Spande let the news out while speaking at the National Corvette Museum’s 25th Anniversary Celebration. The video has been uploaded on YouTube’s Corvette: Sales, News & Lifestyle channel.
Spande was responding to an audience question on the Convertible and its launch date, “I don’t think that detail has been out there. At the reveal, there was, 1-second here and 1-second there, but what we have said is that in the October timeframe there will be the reveal of the Convertible. So that’s coming.”
Prototypes of the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette C8 Stingray Convertible have been spotted undergoing testing after the official launch of the coupe. While details on the roof stowing mechanism are not available yet, it’ll be a folding hardtop system in all likelihood.
