2020 BMW M8 Gran Coupe is here with 4 Doors and 617 Horses!
The new BMW M8 Gran Coupe will be available in the M8 Competition spec too and that’s where you’ll find the 617 stallions ready to gallop.
After unleashing those mighty crossovers – the X5 M and X6 M – recently, the Bavarians have released something which we’d prefer any day over those high-riding vehicles. Meet the 2020 BMW M8 Gran Coupe and its Competition top-spec form.
The horsepower number in the heading may have given it all away. So no prizes for guessing that the engine powering the four-door super-sedan is the same twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 seen the X5 M and X6 M. In the regular M8 Gran Coupe, the powertrain produces 600 hp of power and 553 lb-ft of torque. That’s enough firepower to hurl the achingly beautiful sedan from 0 to 60 mph in 3.1 seconds. The M8 Gran Coupe Competition gets some more horses to settle for a 617 hp figure. Torque remains the same as the standard model and the 0-60 mph is lesser by 0.1 seconds. An 8-speed automatic gearbox is in charge of the transmission department.
Coming to the major highlights of the M8 Gran Coupe, the Germans have included a number of features and driver aids to tap the performance sedan’s maximum potential. Adaptive M Suspension, optional M carbon-ceramic brakes, 3 driving modes and the M1/M2 settings which lets drivers configure many aspects of the car to suit their individual driving styles and needs are some of the features worth noting.
Top speeds of both variants have been limited to 155 mph and for those customers who desire more, the optional M Driver’s Package will change the settings to deliver a 190 mph top whack. BMW is also throwing in M School driver training along with the aforementioned package.
As for prices, the 2020 BMW M8 Gran Coupe in its standard trim will cost $130,000 and the M8 Gran Coupe Competition will set you back by $143,000.
US debut will be kicked off by a limited Launch Edition which will be finished in Diamant Green metallic paint garnished with Goldbronze highlights. Only 50 units of this special edition will be made available in the US and a total of 400 will be produced for the global market.
