2016 Geneva Motor Show: BMW M760Li xDrive V12
In recent times, if you wanted a fast, powerful and luxurious limousine, you’d buy a Mercedes-AMG S63. In 2016 however, you are spoiled for choice because BMW entered the fray with the 2016 BMW M760Li xDrive. Like the Merc, it is fast, immensely powerful and ultra-luxurious. Also, it has been tinkered with by the M Division. This means it will be fun to drive.
The 2016 BMW M760Li xDrive is a pretty handsome limousine. Based on the long wheelbase version of the new G11 BMW 7 Series with an innovative “Carbon Core” chassis, subtle changes to the exterior give it a hint of sporty character. The front bumper for instance, gets larger air intakes with sculpted vents that channel air to cool the brakes. A unique set of 20-inch light alloy wheels and a pair of dual exhausts further accentuate the design.
Under the bonnet resides a Rolls Royce-derived 6.6-liter twin-turbocharged V12 engine which puts out 592 hp and 800 Nm of torque. Mated to this enormous powerhouse is an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission which sends power to all four wheels via a rear biased xDrive all-wheel drive system. Floor the throttle and the BMW M760Li will reach 60 mph in just 3.9 sec. Sadly, top speed is limited to 155 mph. This is a 200 mph car without doubt.
The M Division has given the M760Li some serious running gear. The car rides on active air-suspension with Dynamic Damper Control. Integral Active Steering incorporates active rear-wheel steer to improve handling. 19-inch M Sport brakes provide unparalleled stopping power. Customers looking for a more understated look can opt for the ‘Excellence’ option which swaps out the M aerodynamic package except for the V12 badge.
The 2016 BMW M760Li xDrive debuts at the Geneva Motor Show in March. Keep watching this space for more details including the price.
