2016 Geneva Motor Show: 2017 Chevy Corvette Grand Sport
The all-new Corvette C7-based 2017 Chevy Corvette Grand Sport has been launched at the Geneva Motor Show. What we have here is a 460 hp Corvette with better aerodynamics, sticky tires and lightweight construction.
The 2017 Chevy Corvette Grand Sport may not be quite as powerful as the Z06 but it is quicker than the ZR1 from the previous generation. It will be available in both coupe and convertible body styles. A special Collector Edition model will also be available wrapped in Watkins Glen Grey metallic paint and Tension Blue stripes on the fenders. The interior gets similar treatment with blue adding some contrast.
The new Grand Sport is takes the base version of the C7 Corvette and makes it even better. It uses the same naturally aspirated LT1 V8 producing 460 hp with dry sump lubrication and an active exhaust system that provides the perfect V8 sountrack. Customers can order their Grand Sport with either a 7-speed manual with active rev-match or an 8-speed automatic with paddle shifts.
The 2017 Chevy Corvette Grand Sport rides on specially designed wheels- 19-inch in the front and 20-inch in the rear. Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires- 285/30ZR19 (front) and 335/25ZR20 (rear) are offered as standard fitment. Beefed-up brakes provided by Brembo come in 355 mm front and 340 mm rear sizes. GM engineers have revised the suspension settings for the Grand Sport which meant tweaking the stabilizer bars and spring rates. For those looking for a more sporty drive can opt for the Z07 package which adds ceramic brakes and much stickier rubber.
