2016 Detroit Motor Show: A Preview

2015 NAIAS

We will be in motor city Detroit for the annual ‘North American International Auto Show’ or commonly known as the Detroit Motor Show later this month. There are a few cars that we looking forward to see at this year’s event. Here’s a list of the hottest new car launches happening at the NAIAS 2016.

Porsche 911 Turbo

Porsche 911 Turbo

The Porsche 911 gets a slight facelift for the year 2016. While it’s a fairly minor aesthetic upgrade, the top-of-the-range 911 Turbo models get added horsepower as well. The engine is a 3.8-liter twin-turbo unit which now makes 580 hp. That’s is 40 hp more than the previous model. The sprint from 0-60 mph in over in 2.9 sec and the new 911 Turbo S has a top speed of 205 mph.

Mercedes-AMG S65 Cabriolet

2017 Mercedes-AMG S65 Cabriolet

The Mercedes-AMG S65 drop top is a stunning looking grand tourer with a smooth V12 bi-turbo engine up front and luxurious interior to compliment. It has all the toys from S Class limousine packaged into a brilliant two-door cruiser with a convertible roof. So, if you are in the market for a Bentley Continental GTC or an Aston Martin Volante, you might want to consider this before writing that check.

Mercedes-AMG SLC43

Mercedes-AMG SLC43

The new Mercedes-AMG SLC43 swaps a thunderous V8 with a puny 3.5-liter V6 bi-turbo unit. Peak power is also down which isn’t a surprise. Hopefully, higher fuel efficiency will make up for the lack of horsepower when it goes on sale in the US later this year.

BMW M2

2016 BMW M2

I’m really looking forward to sample the BMW M2. It replaces the 1M Coupe which turned out to be such a hit that BMW decided to bring it back in the form of the M2. If you just want to be quick in your M2, then tick the dual-clutch gearbox option. However, if you want to experience the full thrill of driving, then get a proper stick shift instead.

Lexus LC 500

Lexus LF LC Concept

Yes, we are psyched about a Lexus that will be coming to 2016 Detroit Motor Show. It is the Lexus LC 500 which is expected to get a 5.0-liter V8 under its hood. A hybrid variant is also been in the news- dubbed LC 500h it could be offered with 3.5-liter V6 instead. Furthermore, a hotter LC F version with close to 600 hp could also be in the works.

Infiniti Q60 Coupe

Infiniti Q60 Concept

Thinking of buying a BMW M4? Hold on to your money for a few months because you might want to checkout this new Infiniti Q60 Coupe. The Q60 will most likely be powered by a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 making close to 400 hp. You can see it as a two-door version of the Q50 sedan and if you’re a fan of the brand, then you might as well wait until the Q60 comes along.

Fisker “The Force 1”

Fisker The Force 1

The Force is strong with Fisker as the ambitious car maker returns with yet another revolutionary concept. It is called “The Force 1” for reasons we aren’t quite sure. Apparently, it is unlike the Fisker Karma and would boast of a very powerful naturally aspirated engine. So, prepare to get surprised when the car is finally showcased at the Detroit Motor Show later this month.
