Mercedes-Benz has released the first teaser video of the upcoming AMG GT sports car. The new Mercedes-AMG GT is set to take on the legendary Porsche 911 and as part of pre-launch activities, a dedicated website has been put up for the sports car. Earlier, the company dropped the ‘Benz’ name from the new sports car, so now the car will be called Mercedes-AMG GT instead.

On the outside, the new Mercedes-AMG GT is shaped along latest trends at Mercedes-Benz design. A long hood, short overhangs and a short tail are characteristics of the car. The front end would get a bold, wide Mercedes grille, flanked by headlamp graphics with LED daytime running lights. The rear lamps could be derivatives of the one found on the more premium S-Class Coupe. The interior of the car is expected to be an evolution of what we saw on the SLS AMG.

Powering the new sports car would be a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 with around 500 horsepower being delivered to the rear axle via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Mercedes-Benz also has plans for a more expensive Black Series version of the AMG GT which could get even more power.
