Auto Shanghai 2017: Special Edition BMW M4 CS
The BMW M4 CS has been unveiled at the Auto Shanghai 2017. The special edition model of the M4 slots in between the M4 Competition Pack and the limited edition M4 GTS.
Design
The BMW M4 CS gets some unique styling elements. The most prominent design features on the exterior include the carbon fiber spoiler and the new set of wheels. It also has a carbon diffuser and an M4 GTS-style front splitter, also in carbon. Inside, there are the usual M-stripe motifs with sporty alcantara and leather upholstery as well as carbon trim pieces including a lightweight carbon roof.
Engine and Performance
The new BMW M4 CS uses the same 3.0-liter in-line 6-cylinder turbocharged engine as the standard M4. With 10 horsepower more than the 450 hp Competition Pack, it isn’t the most powerful M4 coupe. But, that’s enough to shave a tenth off its 0-60 mph time. The M4 CS hits the 60 mph in 3.9 sec compared to 4.0 sec achieved by the Competition Pack.
In fact, BMW claims the M4 CS laps the Nurburgring in 7 min 38 sec- just 6 sec off the time set by the 505 hp Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio.
Sadly, there’s no manual option as a dual-clutch gearbox is standard and so is BMW’s Adaptive M Suspension. The new design alloy wheels are wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. The M Driver’s Package which is standard on the M4 CS raises its top speed of 174 mph.
The BMW M4 CS is priced at around $125,000 and will see a limited production run.
