2016 NAIAS: Lexus LC 500 Coupe Unveiled at Detroit
The big news from the Lexus stand at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show comes in the form of a luxurious and elegant coupe. The Lexus LC 500 has just been revealed featuring a naturally aspirated V8 up front, an automatic gearbox and rear-wheel drive.
The Lexus LC 500 is a high-end coupe with 467 hp under the hood which is derived from a 5.0-liter atmospheric V8. This is the same engine from RC Coupe with a peak torque figure of 389 lb-ft and a 7300 rpm red line. The engine is bolted to a 10-speed automatic transmission which sends all the power to the rear axle. By looking at the numbers, it does seem a bit low on power given the fact that the LC 500 will cost $100,000 when it hits showrooms next year.
This Lexus however does excel when it comes to cabin comfort. The interior of the Lexus LC 500 is wrapped in leather and has a futuristic look to it. The stepped dashboard is reminiscent of the current design trend at Lexus and includes a vertical display screen and a handy analogue clock. Brushed aluminum accents on the center console add to the contemporary look.
